1989 Local Pub & Brewery Guide
A lot of things have changed since 1989! This guide to the pubs and breweries was published for sale at the 1989 Loughborough Beer Festival. The Festival in those days was held at Loughborough Town Hall.
Take a look to see how your local has changed. Many of the pubs do not exist any more, and there are now a few new pubs.
An amazing 37 Loughborough pubs in the 1989 guide have either closed or changed their name.
Most of the breweries have fallen to mergers, and take-overs. Just Marston's of those described in the guide are still brewing. Luckily, we have many new breweries to fill the gap left by these closures.
The Green Man stills exists in a time-warp underneath the Carillon Court in Loughborough.
