Probably an early 19th-century building, part of the original Thorpe Acre village, now surrounded by modern houses. The unusual look of the pub is due to a change in road layout which has resulted in the back of the pub adjoining the road. To the ‘front’ there are gardens and a children’s play area. The pub is split level with the bar and front entrance lower than the lounge, which is accessed via steps leading from the road. Live entertainment plays most weekends.

Situated in a village which has many half timbered buildings, this is a cosy multi-roomed pub with parts dating back to 13th century. Low beamed ceilings and exposed brickwork are just some of the original features discovered during renovation work in the 1990s. There is an interesting display of old photographs of the area. The restaurant serves tasty home-made food. Regular Skylink buses to Derby and Leicester via Loughborough pass by during the daytime
